In this post I'll try to show you a bit of the city of Pavia because it is important that you know the
city you apply to study medicine here in Italy.
Pavia is a small city located in the south-western part of province called - Lombardy.
Its population is ~70,000 people include the ~22,000 students (Italian and foreigners).
Pavia is very close to Milan (about 30 minutes in train) and to the coast of Genoa (about 1 hour in train).
The center of the city includes the main street "Strada nuova", a long street starts at the Castello and goes all the way to the covered bridge of the Ticino river (Ponte coperto). This street is full of people almost every day and every night.

Crossing the Strada nuova are some other central streets full with shops of any kind such as "Corso Garibaldi" and "Corso Cavour". Just at the crucifixion of strada nuova and corso cavour is the main square of
Pavia, "Piazza della vittoria", which there you can find restaurants, bars and pubs, coffee shops etc..
In some days you can find festivals and markets inside the piazza.
Just near the piazza della vittoria, right in center is the main church of pavia named - Duomo di Pavia.
You can read the History of the cathedral here
One of the most famous structure in Pavia it the castle, the "Castello Visconteo" built in 1360.
